Indie developer Portmaster Games has officially announced Cathedral: Crow’s Curse, a standalone prequel to their acclaimed Metroidvania title Cathedral. The game is scheduled for release in late 2025 on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. According to the official announcement, Crow’s Curse will expand the dark, atmospheric world of Cathedral by exploring new characters and lore, while maintaining the classic Metroidvania gameplay style that fans appreciate.
The prequel focuses on a mysterious curse afflicting a cathedral inhabited by ominous crows, blending exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving in a richly detailed 2D environment.
