Donkey Kong Bananza Confirmed for Switch 2, Developed by Super Mario Odyssey Team
Nintendo has officially announced Donkey Kong Bananza, a new installment in the Donkey Kong series, set to release exclusively on the upcoming Switch 2 console. The announcement was made on June 18 during a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation.
The game is being developed by the same team behind Super Mario Odyssey, signaling a continuation of the high-quality platforming experience fans have come to expect. According to Nintendo’s official statement, Donkey Kong Bananza aims to blend classic Donkey Kong gameplay with innovative mechanics inspired by Super Mario Odyssey’s open-world design.
The release date is scheduled for late 2024, coinciding with the launch window of the Switch 2. Nintendo emphasized that the game will leverage the new hardware’s enhanced capabilities to deliver richer environments and more dynamic gameplay.
This marks the first major Donkey Kong title developed by the Odyssey team, highlighting Nintendo’s strategy to revitalize its flagship franchises on next-generation hardware.
