Resident Evil Re:Verse Shuts Down Today Amid Low User Ratings and Operational Costs

Capcom has officially announced that the online multiplayer service for Resident Evil RE:Verse will be terminated on June 29, 2023. The shutdown affects all platforms where the game is available, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This decision follows the game’s original purpose as a celebratory spin-off for the Resident Evil franchise’s 25th anniversary, which has now concluded.

According to Capcom’s official statement, the servers will be taken offline at 11:00 PM JST on June 29, 2023, after which online features will no longer be accessible. Players will still be able to access offline content, but matchmaking and other online multiplayer functions will cease. The company encourages players to enjoy the game while the service remains active.

Resident Evil RE:Verse was launched as a free-to-play multiplayer title featuring characters from across the Resident Evil series. Despite its unique concept, the game struggled to maintain a large player base, leading to the decision to end online support.

This shutdown aligns with Capcom’s broader strategy to focus resources on core Resident Evil titles and upcoming projects. Players interested in the multiplayer experience are advised to complete any ongoing matches before the service ends.
