Rumors about a remaster of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag have been circulating since 2023, and in 2025, these rumors have intensified. Ubisoft has yet to officially announce the return of Black Flag to modern consoles and PC, but voice actor Matt Ryan recently hinted that a remaster is in the works.
On social media, an X user named @TheRealZephryss shared a video from @SuperDropKick17 showing Ryan signing autographs at a convention. Ryan, who voices the main character Edward Kenway, confirmed he has completed the game. He then mentioned he might need to play through it again, adding, “I say this for a reason, but I can’t reveal it.”
This interaction with fans suggests the possibility of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remaster.
Earlier this month, a livestream by Pure Arts, the company responsible for Assassin’s Creed character PVC statues, discussed Edward’s absence from their statue lineup. The host seemed unsure if the Black Flag remaster had been announced but hinted that Edward would have some developments, reflected in their upcoming 1/8 scale PVC statue.
Last year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed multiple Assassin’s Creed remaster projects are underway, aiming to modernize classic titles.
Meanwhile, the latest series installment, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, released a new update last week featuring a collaboration with Critical Role and a new difficulty mode.
