F1 The Movie has made a remarkable impact at the box office, debuting with $55.6 million domestically and $88.4 million internationally, totaling $144 million worldwide during its opening weekend. In contrast, the new release M3GAN 2.0 experienced a much slower start, earning $17.158 million globally, a significant drop compared to its predecessor.
The film features Brad Pitt driving real Formula 1 cars at high speeds, marking a rare box office success for Apple. F1 The Movie is poised to outperform Apple’s previous theatrical releases, including Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
IGN rated F1 The Movie 7/10, praising it for following the sports movie formula effectively and delivering an entertaining racecar film that ultimately reaches victory.
Blumhouse’s M3GAN 2.0 earned $10.2 million domestically and $6.958 million internationally during its launch weekend. This suggests that the original M3GAN film, released in December 2022, was a unique success with a global total of $180 million.
IGN gave M3GAN 2.0 a 6/10, noting that the film shifts from horror to sci-fi/action with mixed results, but the character M3GAN remains the highlight due to her sharp wit and impressive moves.
Other notable box office performances include 28 Years Later, which has reached $103 million globally, the live-action How To Train Your Dragon film with $454.436 million worldwide, and Pixar’s Elio, which continues to struggle with $72.3 million after two weekends.
Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch is performing exceptionally well, grossing $946 million after six weekends and on track to surpass the billion-dollar mark, especially with upcoming school holidays.
Additional box office figures include Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at $561.99 million, Karate Kid: Legends crossing $100 million globally, Final Destination Bloodlines at $283.3 million, and Sinners at $368 million.
