Microsoft has released a new update for the Xbox 360 console, introducing some changes to the dashboard, most notably a prominent advertisement for the Xbox Series X and Series S. This update encourages users still on the Xbox 360 to consider upgrading to the newer generation consoles, highlighting the enhanced performance of the Xbox Series X/S.
The update includes a QR code that directs users to the Microsoft Store, where they can explore the latest console offerings and pricing. This move follows Microsoft’s closure of the Xbox 360 Marketplace last year, which removed store-related elements from the dashboard, making the interface cleaner and more streamlined.
For those who prefer to continue using their Xbox 360, the update also fixes a previous issue where the main game tile displayed stretched artwork, improving the overall visual experience.
The Xbox 360, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary later this year since its launch in November 2005, remains in use by a dedicated group of players. The update has been well received by the community, with users appreciating the improved dashboard aesthetics and Microsoft’s attention to legacy console users.
In addition to this, Xbox recently unveiled the handheld Xbox Ally X by Asus and is working on new next-generation consoles, although no release dates have been announced yet.
