Eternal Loop: A Fresh Take on Urban RPG Gacha Mechanics

PushSquare recently highlighted the upcoming urban RPG “Eternal Loop” from Perfect World, which aims to challenge major secondary game giants like “Naraka: Bladepoint” by reinventing the gacha model in a fiercely competitive market. This GTA-inspired title is set to reshape player expectations with its innovative approach.

Veteran players of secondary games are all too familiar with the typical gacha system: a 90-draw guarantee for a five-star character, but only a 50% chance that the character is the featured one, often resulting in unwanted permanent characters. This frequently leads to frustration after investing significant resources without the desired outcome.

“Eternal Loop” breaks away from this norm by introducing a novel board-style gacha mechanic. While the core remains a draw system, players are guaranteed to obtain the current S-tier character within 90 draws, with a significant probability boost after 70 draws. Additionally, exclusive weapons can be unlocked through regular gameplay, reducing reliance on luck. This adjustment cuts the guaranteed pull count for limited characters from 180 to 90, marking a highly competitive and player-friendly reform.

Popular gaming influencer Meloo praised this change on Twitter as a “major victory,” and industry insiders see it as a reflection of the intense competition within the genre. With numerous gacha games launching on the PS5 platform, each new release strives to differentiate itself.

Beyond its gacha innovation, “Eternal Loop” offers engaging features such as managing a sandwich shop, character-switching combo battles, and even multiplayer online arcade racing. The game is about to enter PC closed beta testing, with plans for a future PS5 release. The latest test version fully supports the DualSense controller.
