Italian indie developer Caracal Games and French publisher Dear Villagers have officially released their high-speed action open-world game “Star Overdrive” on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms.
The Caracal Games team has spent years crafting an alien open world where players respond to a distress signal to save a loved one. Utilizing a high-speed hoverboard, physics-based special abilities, and a powerful keyboard guitar, players will overcome numerous challenges and enemy obstacles.
Following the successful launch on Nintendo Switch in April 2025, the development team has continued to refine the game experience. The multi-platform release includes a comprehensive update incorporating community feedback, featuring improved controls and new gameplay functions.
The PC version is available with a 20% launch discount. Besides the standard edition, a digital deluxe edition is offered, which includes three hoverboard styles, one design, 50 dyes, the digital soundtrack, and a digital comic created by Caracal Games that tells the prequel story of the main game.
