MindsEye, labeled as the worst-reviewed game of 2025, is undergoing improvements through a series of updates by its developer, Build a Rocket Boy. Upon its release on June 10, the game faced significant criticism due to outdated design, unstable frame rates, and numerous gameplay and visual bugs. This backlash even led Sony to offer refunds to PS5 players. The developer has since committed to addressing these issues.
Two hotfix updates have been released so far. The second update, rolled out on June 18, focused on enhancing performance, fixing NPC and enemy AI problems, and resolving various bugs. Despite these efforts, MindsEye holds a low Metacritic score of 36, making it the lowest-rated game of 2025.
GameSpot’s review highlighted that “the stunning visuals cannot compensate for the hollow content, whether it’s the meaningless open world, dull combat, or other serious flaws.” MindsEye is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
