On June 2025, Microsoft officially confirmed a strategic multi-year partnership with AMD to develop the processors for its next-generation Xbox consoles. This collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge gaming performance both in traditional living room consoles and new handheld devices.
According to an official statement from Xbox News, Microsoft and AMD will jointly design custom chips that leverage AMD’s latest CPU and GPU architectures. The partnership continues the long-standing relationship between the two companies, building on previous Xbox generations powered by AMD technology.
The new hardware will support seamless gaming experiences across multiple form factors, including a new Xbox handheld device developed in collaboration with ASUS under the ROG Ally X brand. This device is expected to showcase the power and versatility of the AMD-designed processors optimized for Windows-based handheld gaming.
Microsoft emphasized that the next-gen Xbox consoles and handhelds will focus on delivering high-fidelity graphics, low latency, and cloud gaming integration, enabling players to enjoy Xbox games anywhere.
