Last Chance to Grab the Borderlands Movie on Prime Day with Exclusive Deals

Prime Day is one of the best times of the year for movie fans, offering a plethora of Blu-ray discounts. The event ends today, so if you want to add new titles to your collection, now is the time. Among the many acclaimed films on sale, one stands out as a bit of a tough sell: the Borderlands movie. Amazon is currently offering great deals on both the limited edition steelbook and the standard 4K versions. Both editions include the standard Blu-ray disc and a digital streaming code.

The live-action adaptation of the popular looter-shooter game series takes place on the dangerous alien planet Pandora. The cast is somewhat mismatched, with the story centering on bounty hunter Lilith (Cate Blanchett), who is tasked with finding the missing daughter of one of the galaxy’s largest corporations, Atlas.

When things go awry, Lilith teams up with Roland (Kevin Hart), Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Patricia Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Krieg (Florian Munteanu) to form an unlikely alliance in search of answers and a hefty reward.

To be honest, Borderlands is not a great movie. However, it’s not terrible either. If you’re looking for a mindless popcorn flick, it’s a colorful visual experience with plenty of Easter eggs to discover. The extras include:

  • From Game to Screen featurette
  • Meet the Team featurette
  • All Aboard the Death Train featurette
  • Bringing Borderlands to Life featurette
  • Badonkadonk Time featurette
  • Pandora’s Fashion and Action featurette
  • High-Tech Hellscapes featurette

The best thing about the Borderlands movie is that it actually makes other video game adaptations look better by comparison. During Prime Day, several surprisingly good game-based movies are also on sale, including Doom. This early 2000s classic FPS adaptation missed the golden era of the games but remains a solid action film with a reliable cast. The latest 4K release restores many of the gore scenes cut from theaters and includes plenty of bonus content.

On the animation front, the sequel to Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children continues to excite fans, bringing you back to Midgar with new content and tweaks to create the ultimate version of this ambitious film. The Five Nights at Freddy’s premiere was also a surprise hit, and when it comes to how to properly adapt video games, the groundbreaking Arcane animated series is the gold standard.
