Nintendo to End Sales of Switch Game Vouchers by January 2026

Nintendo Discontinues Switch Game Vouchers Program

On June 2023, Nintendo officially announced the discontinuation of the Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers program worldwide. The service, which allowed Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to purchase two eligible games at a discounted price, will no longer be available for new purchases or redemptions. Existing vouchers must be used before the termination date, after which they will expire.

According to Nintendo’s official statement, the decision to end the program was made to streamline their digital offerings and focus on new initiatives aligned with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 platform. The company also confirmed that the Game Vouchers will not support games released on the next-generation console.

Nintendo advised users to redeem any remaining vouchers promptly and noted that My Nintendo Gold Points, which were linked to the program, will also be discontinued. The company encourages players to explore other available discounts and promotions through the Nintendo eShop.

This move marks the end of a popular cost-saving option for Switch owners, reflecting Nintendo’s shift in strategy as it prepares for its next hardware generation.
