Destiny 2’s latest expansion, The Edge of Fate, is set to launch next week. In anticipation, Bungie has generously opened access to the past three years of Destiny 2 content for free to all players.
Starting with the 2022 expansion The Witch Queen, players can immerse themselves in the story of Savathun, follow the villainous arc of The Witness in Lightfall, and experience the conclusion in The Final Shape until July 22. This provides a great opportunity to catch up on the main storylines before diving into the new expansion to discover what lies ahead.
Additionally, Bungie has made the Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy Episodes available to everyone. These episodes continue the narrative after The Final Shape, setting the stage for The Edge of Fate and resolving lingering plot points. However, these episodes will only be accessible until July 15.
All rewards, titles, triumphs, and cosmetics earned during this free access period will remain with players even after the episodes become unavailable.
The Final Shape concluded a decade-long saga, while The Edge of Fate introduces a fresh storyline featuring new enemies and a new planet called Kepler. This expansion focuses on The Nine, a mysterious alien lifeform shrouded in enigma. Players can expect numerous secrets and mysteries to uncover, with Bungie encouraging sequence breaking to fully explore the story.
The Edge of Fate brings many new features, including new weapons, a complete gear system overhaul, and a new location with a unique time-limited activity. All players will have their power level reset to 200, balancing the playing field for newcomers and veterans alike. This reset means players may need to put in extra effort to prepare for the upcoming raid race.
For those waiting for the perfect moment to introduce friends to Destiny 2, now is an ideal time to jump in and experience the evolving universe together.
