A new real-time strategy game set in the Resident Evil universe has been announced for iPhone and Android devices. This game, titled Resident Evil Survival Unit, is being developed in close collaboration with Capcom to ensure it stays true to the franchise’s authenticity and quality.
The game is co-developed by Joycity Corporation, a Korean mobile game developer known for creating licensed real-time strategy games like Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. Resident Evil Survival Unit promises to bring a fresh strategic gameplay experience to fans and newcomers alike.
The first glimpse of the game reveals a dark, ominous setting featuring a vehicle stopped in the woods near an Umbrella Corporation billboard, hinting at the game’s timeline before the events of Resident Evil 4. The presence of Umbrella Corporation suggests the story might take place around the Arklay Mountains near Raccoon City, a classic location in the series.
Players can expect to command teams of STARS operatives in real-time, managing their actions and survival in a tense, strategic environment. The game aims to appeal to long-time fans by including familiar characters and settings, while also welcoming new players to the Resident Evil world.
Published by Aniplex, a Sony subsidiary known for anime content, Resident Evil Survival Unit will launch across Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe, and Asia. More detailed information will be revealed during an online showcase scheduled for July 10, streamed on YouTube.
This new title arrives as the main Resident Evil series returns to Raccoon City with Resident Evil Requiem, potentially expanding on the Umbrella storyline and revisiting the origins of the franchise’s iconic horror narrative.
