The remastered version of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine for PC, known as the Master Crafted Edition, has encountered numerous issues since its launch. Originally, fans of the 2011 classic were eager to experience the updated game, but many have been met with frustration due to bugs and technical problems.
On Steam, the game has received nearly 100 mostly negative reviews, with players reporting buggy loading screens, unattractive UI changes, and frequent crashes. One player expressed disappointment, noting that the new menus were a downgrade and questioning why the developers attempted to fix elements that were not broken.
In response to the backlash, Sega reduced the price to $20 for owners of the Anniversary Edition and is offering refunds to PC buyers until July 10. Patch 3 aims to address several issues, including fixing softlocks, graphical glitches, input problems, and relocating local user profile data to prevent crashes.
The problems are not limited to PC users. Xbox Series X|S players accessing the game through Game Pass Ultimate have reported a bug that deletes save files. This issue has sparked discussions on Reddit, as refunds are not yet available on that platform.
For those seeking alternative Warhammer experiences, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is currently on sale at GOG. Additionally, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is available on current-generation consoles and PC, with a third installment already in development due to the sequel’s success.
