Xbox Game Pass Preload Leak Reveals Size of “Ming Dynasty: Feather of Abyss”

Last night, some Xbox Game Pass (XGP) subscribers discovered that they could preload the highly anticipated Chinese AAA game “Ming Dynasty: Feather of Abyss” ahead of its official release. During this early preload, the game’s file size was unintentionally revealed to be 41.1GB.

Players reported that after completing the preload, an update was pushed this morning which removed all downloaded content. There has been no official statement regarding the scope or impact of this accidental leak.

However, a moderator from the game’s official forum disclosed that this preload was a “temporary staff operation” that was promptly stopped. The moderator also reassured players that the preload was limited to the Xbox Store channel and that Microsoft’s robust encryption technology ensures there is no risk of the game being cracked or unpacked.

Developed by Lingze Technology, “Ming Dynasty: Feather of Abyss” is an action RPG inspired by the Souls-like genre. The game is set in the turbulent late Ming Dynasty period in the Bashu region, immersing players in a historical stage filled with war and conflict. The game is scheduled for official release on July 24, 2025, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
