Legendary Pictures has officially cast Callina Liang as Chun-Li in the highly anticipated live-action Street Fighter movie, set to premiere on March 20, 2026. Liang, who began her acting career with the 2022 series Tell Me Everything and appeared in Foundation in 2023, is poised to bring the iconic fighting game character to life for a mainstream audience. She has also starred in two 2024 films, Steven Soderbergh’s Presence and J.C. Lee’s Bad Genius.
Joining Liang in the cast are notable names such as Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. While further plot details and casting for other Street Fighter characters remain under wraps, the film continues to build excitement.
The project, a collaboration between Capcom and Legendary, initially began in April 2023 with directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who later exited due to scheduling conflicts. Kitao Sakurai, known for The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal, and Bad Trip, has since taken over directing duties.
Despite setbacks, Legendary remains committed to the film’s spring 2026 release. Fans can look forward to more updates as the premiere approaches. Meanwhile, the latest Street Fighter video game, Street Fighter 6, recently surpassed 5 million sales, highlighting the franchise’s enduring popularity.
