A new LEGO set based on The Lord of the Rings, featuring the iconic Balrog, has caught the attention of fans due to a peculiar pose shown in the product photos.
The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook was released this month, allowing fantasy enthusiasts to decorate their bookshelves with the fiery enemy from the series. The set is now available on Amazon and the official LEGO store.
This detailed set consists of 1201 pieces and recreates the classic moment from The Fellowship of the Ring where Gandalf confronts the Balrog as his companions flee the Mines of Moria. Gandalf stands firm, declaring the famous line “You shall not pass!” while the Balrog wields its whip and falls into the abyss, taking Gandalf with it.
However, one particular image of the Balrog in the set has sparked online jokes among fans. The glowing lava whip appears to be hanging loosely at the Balrog’s waist, leading many to humorously suggest it looks like the demon is urinating.
Fans quickly took to social media to share their reactions, with many agreeing that the pose unintentionally resembles the Balrog relieving itself. Some comments also criticized the set’s $129 price tag, questioning whether it was worth purchasing.
For those interested in more Balrog appearances, the character also features in the second season of Amazon Prime’s The Lord of the Rings prequel series, The Rings of Power. It is heavily implied to be the same foe Gandalf faces centuries later in the depths of Mordor.
This month has been busy for the Balrog, as rapper Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, reportedly confirmed talks to play the Balrog in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
The LEGO Lord of the Rings Balrog Book Nook offers fans a chance to bring a piece of Middle-earth to their shelves, despite the unexpected humorous controversy surrounding its design.
