The live-action drama series “The Laughing Salesman,” starring Ryuuji Akiyama, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 18. Adapted from the original manga by Fujiko Fujio (A), also known as Motoo Abiko, the series consists of 12 episodes that will be released over three weeks.
The original manga tells the story of Fukuzou Moguro, a salesman who helps people fulfill various wishes, wrapped in a dark humor narrative. This work has previously been adapted twice into TV anime and has also been staged as a play.
In this live-action adaptation, Ryuuji Akiyama plays the role of Fukuzou Moguro. The screenplay is written by Kankurou Kudou, Maggie, Tetsu Hosokawa, and Uta Iwasaki. The series is directed by Masaki Ito (FCC), Yohei Nagabe, Daisuke Yamamoto, and Shota Sasaki.
