Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake: New Gameplay Trailer and Visual Enhancements Revealed

Konami officially announced at the latest PlayStation State of Play event that Metal Gear Solid 3: Remake will launch on August 28, 2025. Alongside the announcement, a new gameplay trailer was released showcasing the classic cardboard box stealth mechanics that fans love.

Recently, Konami celebrated the 2025 New Year with a short video on the official Metal Gear Twitter account, hinting at the “2025 Snake Year,” which sparked speculation about the game’s release within the year.

YouTube content creator PythonSelkan noted that the character The Boss appears more feminine in the new trailer compared to previous previews. Meanwhile, ElAnalistaDeBits shared a detailed comparison between the remake and the original game, highlighting new filter options and damage effects.

Renowned review outlet Digital Foundry confirmed the gameplay demo runs at native 4K resolution, showcasing significant graphical improvements. ElAnalistaDeBits also released a video comparing the remake’s engine visuals to the original, emphasizing enhanced lighting and detail.

The first gameplay trailer was unveiled during the Xbox Partner Preview event, generating excitement among fans. However, PC Gamer remarked that the new trailer does not quite match the impact of the original 2003 E3 reveal.

At the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, Konami provided hands-on demos and unique activities for attendees. Several Twitter users and the official Metal Gear account shared images and information from the event.

In a recent interview, producer Kenji Okamura revealed that original creator Hideo Kojima was not involved in the remake, and thus the game will not feature the “A KOJIMA HIDEO GAME” branding.

IGN released a first-look preview video detailing the remake’s features and gameplay impressions. DSOGaming published the first batch of 4K screenshots, showcasing lush jungle environments, enemy models, and intricate scene details.
