Lego Revives 90s Nostalgia with New X-Files and Wallace & Gromit Sets

Lego is bringing back the spirit of the 1990s with exciting new sets inspired by fan designs from its Ideas line. Among the upcoming releases are iconic characters from The X-Files and the beloved Wallace & Gromit series.

These sets emerged from the Lego Ideas “Build Your Nostalgia: ’90s Throwback” contest, which invited designers to capture the essence of the 1990s through their creations. Although the first Wallace & Gromit short aired in 1989, the series had significant releases in the ’90s, making it a fitting inclusion. The X-Files, a defining ’90s show alongside ripped jeans and grunge music, is also featured. Both sets will eventually be joined by a scale model of Godzilla.

The X-Files set, crafted by designer WetWired, showcases FBI agents Mulder and Scully in a detailed forest scene complete with a UFO, an alien figure, and a replica of Mulder’s famous office. Additional minifigures include FBI assistant director Skinner, the Jersey Devil, and the eerie Eugene Tooms.

The Wallace & Gromit set, designed by Pidelium, recreates the iconic British inventor and his dog from the 1995 short “A Close Shave.” It features the duo, their motorcycle, and their window-cleaning gear, though notably, no cheese is included.

It’s important to note that the final products may differ from the fan designs, and their public release date is still pending. For those eager to enjoy Lego now, other recent releases include a charming Toothless model from How To Train Your Dragon and several Donkey Kong sets currently available on Amazon.
