The Forge Falcons, one of the most respected creator teams in Halo Infinite’s Forge mode, recently announced they will cease developing content for the game. They openly cited the lack of support from Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) as the primary reason.
Since its introduction in Halo 3 (2007), Forge mode has been a key feature of the series. After its official launch in Halo Infinite at the end of 2022, player-created custom maps and game modes quickly became central to the game’s live service experience. Over the past year, as Halo Studios slowed official multiplayer map development, community creators’ work has largely filled the content gap.
The Forge Falcons led several iconic projects, including the “Heir” battle royale mode, the “Survival Battle” inspired by Call of Duty’s Zombies mode, and the “Hell Paratroopers” mode mimicking cooperative gameplay from Jedi: Fallen Order 2.
However, the team recently posted a lengthy statement on social media expressing disappointment that despite their work being promoted multiple times by Xbox and included in game season updates, they never received substantial support from Halo Studios. This included no creative collaboration, no technical assistance, and no financial compensation.
They emphasized they never expected monetary rewards, but felt let down by the lack of sincere acknowledgment when their creations were used for marketing. Several well-known creators have reportedly left for similar reasons. While Halo Studios credits creators in promotional materials, Forge Falcons believe this recognition is superficial and falls short of a true partnership.
Looking ahead, Forge Falcons plan to shift their focus to Fortnite content development, attracted by Epic Games’ more comprehensive support system for community creators through the “Island Creator Program.” Halo Studios has yet to respond, but the player community has voiced strong support for Forge Falcons, urging the developer to value creator contributions, especially as the main team reportedly focuses on the Halo: Combat Evolved remaster.
