Charlie Cox Reflects on His Role in the Hit Game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Charlie Cox, known for his role in Daredevil, recently shared his thoughts on the success of the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, in which he provided voice acting. Despite the game’s massive success, selling 3.3 million copies in just 33 days, Cox humbly described himself as feeling like a “complete fraud” because he only spent about four hours in the recording studio.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the debut title from French studio Sandfall Interactive and has exceeded all expectations, especially considering it was anticipated to be overshadowed by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake.

In the game, Cox voices the character Gustave, joining a star-studded cast including Jennifer English as Maelle, Ben Stoll as Verso, and Andy Serkis as Renol. Cox revealed this information during the 2025 Washington State Summer Anime Convention, where fans shared his comments on social media.

Although Cox is proud of Sandfall’s achievement, he does not claim credit for the game’s success, stating he is not a gamer and has never played the game himself. He expressed gratitude for being part of the project but emphasized his limited involvement.

Sandfall Interactive recently announced plans to explore multiple future improvements for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, including accessibility features, new content, and expanded localization options. While no specific timeline or language list has been confirmed, the team is actively working on these enhancements.

Meanwhile, Charlie Cox is busy with the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. He has portrayed Matt Murdock/Daredevil in seven Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, starting with Netflix’s Daredevil (2015–2018). Fans are curious if he will appear in next year’s Spider-Man: A New Day, especially after his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
