Borderlands 4 PC System Requirements Revealed: What You Need to Know

Before the official release and preorder availability of Borderlands 4, much of the discussion centered around the game’s price. However, a more critical topic for players is the game’s system requirements. Gearbox has now revealed the PC specifications for Borderlands 4, and they are quite impressive. Despite their demanding nature, these requirements might not be as restrictive as they seem at first glance.

The specifications were posted on Borderlands 4’s Steam page and are as follows:

Recommended Specs:

  • 64-bit processor and operating system required
  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Additional: Requires 8+ CPU cores and 12+ GB VRAM, SSD storage mandatory

Minimum Specs:

  • 64-bit processor and operating system required
  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Additional: Requires 8 CPU cores and 8 GB VRAM, SSD storage mandatory

While the storage, 64-bit processor, and CPU core requirements appear fixed, there may be some flexibility with the processor and graphics cards. For example, the minimum specs list an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, which lacks ray tracing capabilities unlike the Nvidia RTX 2070, indicating ray tracing is not essential. Additionally, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X CPU, though not listed, is expected to be sufficient for running the game. Both recommended and minimum specs require SSD storage and a significant amount of VRAM.

Gearbox also shared post-launch content plans, including new Vault Hunters available in the $130 Super Deluxe Edition. It remains unclear if these additions will be sold separately as DLC. Additional storylines, side missions, and Bounty Packs introducing new areas, missions, unique boss fights, and loot opportunities will be part of the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions.

Borderlands 4 is set to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 on September 12.
