Upcoming Animal Crossing Sequel Expected to Be Revealed in July

Animal Crossing, one of the most successful games on Nintendo Switch, has been notably absent from the Switch 2 launch lineup, leaving fans eager for news. Recently, well-known Nintendo YouTuber Beatemups revealed on the “Nontendo Podcast” that a new installment in the Animal Crossing series might be unveiled as the grand finale of the July Nintendo Direct, with a release window set for 2026.

Beatemups, known for controversial leaks, also mentioned that alongside third-party titles like “Metaphor Fantasy,” “The Witcher 3,” and “Death Stranding: Director’s Cut” coming to Switch 2, the Direct’s conclusion will feature a silhouette teaser of the new Animal Crossing game. Although the source remains unverified and the accuracy of such “game bundle” style leaks is questionable, considering the previous title’s impressive sales of 24 million copies, a sequel from Nintendo is quite plausible.

Nintendo has yet to officially announce the July Direct (with a known Pokémon-focused event on July 22), but if these leaks prove true, this would be one of the most significant first-party announcements for the Switch 2 generation.
