A Review of Ada Wong’s Cut Content in Resident Evil 8 and Her Potential Return in Resident Evil 9

Resident Evil 9 is confirmed for release in 2026. Recently, a Twitter user @Waleedx2007 revisited the cut content and character design of Ada Wong from Resident Evil 8.

Originally, Ada Wong was planned to appear in Resident Evil 8 disguised mysteriously, with a dedicated storyline and DLC content. However, her appearance was ultimately removed. The scrapped design drew inspiration from medieval plague doctors, featuring a long-beaked mask and dark coat, creating a creepy and oppressive look that perfectly matched the gothic horror atmosphere of Resident Evil 8.

In the original concept, Ada was equipped with a high-performance crossbow capable of firing up to five arrows consecutively, aligning with her stealth-based combat style and emphasizing her role in secret missions.

The storyline intended for Ada to appear during the “Four Lords Gathering” battle, disguised and shooting arrows to repel Heisenberg, rescuing Ethan and helping him escape through secret passages. Analysis suggests that while she seemed to assist Ethan, her true mission was likely connected to The Connections, the bioweapons organization behind Evelyn in Resident Evil 7. This group might have been monitoring Rose, a rare and stable experimental subject. Ada’s real purpose was to protect Rose from other factions or gather data on her. Considering mysterious calls in Resident Evil 6 possibly linked to this organization, Ada’s presence in Resident Evil 8 could be a continuation of these hidden storylines.

Capcom also planned a DLC for Ada Wong similar to the “RE4RE” alternate path, featuring new areas, enemies, and stealth gameplay.

It is speculated that Ada’s removal was to save her impactful return for Resident Evil 9, promising fans greater surprises and story impact. If she returns and interacts more with The Connections, it could be a pivotal step in expanding the series’ lore.
