Slo Clap studio has issued an apology to players regarding the absence of cross-platform functionality at the launch of “Rematch,” acknowledging that they should have informed players earlier that this feature would not be available at release. Developed by the team behind “Sifu” and “Forgiveness,” this 5v5 third-person arcade soccer game recently attracted 1.9 million players across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox during its testing phase.
In a blog post on the game’s release day (June 19), the studio explained that unforeseen technical complexities prevented the crossplay feature from being ready on time. They have committed to prioritizing the fix. While the basic technical framework is in place, the team still needs to complete interface adaptation, debugging, and certification processes for console platforms.
The developers also admitted that early versions suffered from performance issues such as latency, stuttering, frame rate fluctuations, and server synchronization problems, which caused uncontrollable player and ball movements. They are actively working on fixing critical bugs that cause crashes, freezing after goals, and menu lockups.
Future updates will focus on four main areas: core gameplay adjustments, competitive features (tournament systems, elite leaderboards, club creation), social components (cross-platform matchmaking, spectator mode, teammate rematch options), and casual modes (AI training opponents).
Slo Clap emphasized their limited team size and the need to implement all features gradually. Despite the initial shortcomings, “Rematch” has maintained a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with a current peak of 35,595 concurrent players and expectations for further growth over the weekend.
